In recent years, art and cultural events have become powerful catalysts in elevating Oman’s presence on the international stage. Far beyond simple showcases of creativity, concerts, exhibitions and cultural festivals are vibrant gateways through which global audiences experience the Sultanate’s rich heritage, welcoming society and modern infrastructure. Through the universal language of art, Oman has found an inspiring way to tell its story—one that bridges tradition and progress whilst inviting the world to explore its unique character.

A shining example of this growing trend was the recent concert by the legendary Kadim Al Sahir at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre (OCEC). The event attracted audiences from across the region, with many attendees flying in specifically to experience the performance. Beyond the concert hall, visitors extended their stay to explore Oman’s diverse landscapes and cultural landmarks—from Muscat’s coastline to Nizwa’s historic forts. Many shared their experiences through vlogs, travel blogs and social media posts, creating a ripple effect of authentic storytelling that reached thousands online. This organic promotion, generated by travellers themselves, continues to strengthen Oman’s image as a premier destination for live entertainment and cultural tourism.

Said Al Shanfari, chief executive officer of the OCEC, notes that concerts and artistic events have drawn more than 11,000 visitors from within and outside the Sultanate, leading to increased hotel occupancy rates and encouraging many to extend their stays. This demonstrates the powerful impact of cultural events as economic drivers for the nation.

Recognising the potential of this growing synergy between art and travel, regional tour operators and travel agencies have begun developing special packages around major cultural events. These curated experiences combine the thrill of live concerts with guided cultural excursions, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in Oman’s traditions whilst enjoying its contemporary offerings. This approach not only boosts tourism and hospitality revenues but also reinforces Oman’s reputation as a country where modernity and authenticity coexist in perfect harmony.

Looking ahead, Oman’s cultural calendar remains full of promise. One of the most anticipated events is the Muscat Art Exhibition, taking place this November. The event has already reached full capacity, with more than 200 artists from 15 countries confirmed to participate. Muscat Art is set to be a vibrant platform for creative exchange, bringing together artists, collectors and curators from around the world. Beyond its role as an art exhibition, it symbolises Oman’s commitment to fostering cultural dialogue and creativity at an international level.

Adding to the excitement, the OCEC will also host Majid Al Muhandis on 7th November, an event expected to draw a full house of music lovers from across the region. Later in the month, renowned comedian Bassem Youssef will take the stage on 21st November, offering audiences an evening of laughter and connection through humour.

Together, these diverse events highlight how Oman is becoming a thriving regional hub for art, music and culture. Each gathering not only entertains but also inspires—transcending borders, sparking conversations and deepening appreciation for Oman’s cultural spirit. As the Sultanate continues to welcome world-class artists and audiences alike, it cements its place as a destination where every event becomes a story, and every story adds to the growing global narrative of Oman’s creative and cultural renaissance.
