IAPCO has announced a new destination partnership with Meeting Destination Vienna. The two-year agreement begins on 1 January 2026.
The partnership brings Vienna into IAPCO’s destination partner network, a group that works directly with IAPCO and its accredited professional congress organisers. IAPCO said the agreement reflects the role destinations play in professional meetings delivery, particularly when convention bureaux and PCOs work together early in bidding, planning and city-wide coordination.
As a destination partner, Vienna will support several IAPCO initiatives, including participation in the IAPCO Partner’s Emerging Leader Award judging panel. Vienna will also host an upcoming IAPCO Advisory Board Meeting. The meeting will involve IAPCO leadership and local stakeholders.
The partnership provides Vienna with access to IAPCO’s accredited PCO community. In total, these organisations deliver more than 21,000 meetings and conferences each year. In 2024, IAPCO-accredited PCOs generated an estimated €17.87bn in economic impact, a figure that covers meetings delivered globally.
Sissi Lignou, president of IAPCO, said: “We warmly welcome Vienna to the IAPCO Destination Partner community. Their professionalism, creativity and commitment to innovation make them a natural fit.” She added: “Our Destination Partners help ensure PCOs have direct access to senior decision-makers within leading cities.”
Anita Paic, director B2B management at the Vienna Tourist Board, said: “Vienna is proud of its close ties with professional conference organisers worldwide. Working with IAPCO further underlines the city’s strong standing as a high-quality meeting destination.”
The IAPCO Destination Partnership Programme was established in 2013. It now includes 11 convention bureaux worldwide.
