In the first nine months after opening on 1 March 2025, Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) reports it has attracted over 40 major events involving seven million visits, establishing itself as a premier destination for major sports and entertainment events. In under a year, KTSP has delivered events, including the Hong Kong Sevens, world‑class football showcases, and concerts by global superstars such as Coldplay, SEVENTEEN, and Jay Chou.
The Park now ranks among the world’s top venues in ticket sales. KTSP has opened a range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities for public booking and runs the flagship community programme, the ‘Kai Tak Sports Initiative’. Occupancy rates exceed 90% and the complex include nearly 80 popular dining outlets.
KTSP has collaborated with China Global Television Network (CGTN), the global English‑language news channel of China Central Television (CCTV), to produce a new documentary titled ‘Game On, Kai Tak!’, tracing KTSP’s full journey, from construction and commissioning to the hosting of world‑class events, taking audiences behind the scenes of this urban landmark and reliving its most inspiring moments.
KTSP has transformed from a former airport runway into a world‑class hub for mega events, marking the transformation of a historic city landmark into a new icon of the Greater Bay Area. The precinct features the 50,000-seat Kai Tak Stadium, which has a retractable roof; the Kai Tak Arena, an indoor sports center with the flexibility to host community sports and events for up to 10,000 seats; and the Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground, an outdoor track and field facility with a capacity of 5,000 seats. These venues are complemented with extensive open spaces for events and leisure.
