Low-cost airline, Wizz Air, has announced it will run a new daily direct flight service from London Gatwick to Valencia, starting 29 March 2026. The airline promised that fares would be available from £40 for a return journey.

The new route will add to Wizz Air’s Luton-Valencia service, which will also start in March 2026 and will operate five times weekly. The Luton–Valencia service will join direct flights from 10 UK airports and two in Ireland.

With flight times averaging under three hours, Valencia offers a relative quick getaway from the UK, and the city boasts an exciting 2026 calendar of sporting events, arts exhibitions and cultural festivities. Valencia will host the 12th Gay Games, expected to attract more than 3,000 participants and 37 disciplines.

And Valencia will be one of the main European urban enclaves from which a total solar eclipse can be observed on 12 August 2026. The unique astronomical phenomenon that will not occur again in the Iberian Peninsula until 2090.

Although it will still be daylight, at around 8:32 pm the city will be plunged into total darkness for just over a minute. Open spaces facing west are expected to be the best observation points, this is sure to be a major event for astronomy lovers.
